About Dr. Christa Angell, D.Ac
Dr. Christa Angell, D.Ac is an Acupuncturist with advanced training in women’s health, fertility, neurological rehabilitation, pain management, and integrative medicine. She combines evidence-informed acupuncture with Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), neurofunctional acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and integrative care principles to support patients with complex and chronic health concerns.
Dr. Angell began her post-secondary studies in Nursing at Memorial University of Newfoundland before completing her acupuncture training through Eastern College / Grant MacEwan College. She has been in clinical practice since 2008, working collaboratively alongside medical doctors, naturopathic doctors, chiropractors, physiotherapists, and multidisciplinary health teams across Canada and internationally.
Her clinical approach integrates modern biomedical understanding with Traditional Chinese Medicine and whole-system medicine, with a strong focus on individualized patient care, collaborative treatment planning, and functional outcomes.
Professional Biography
Following graduation in 2008, Dr. Angell began practice in Halifax, Nova Scotia before relocating to Toronto, Ontario to pursue additional education in reproductive medicine, women’s health, and integrative fertility care.

Dr. Angell completed an intensive Ayurvedic Practitioner program at Amala Institute of Medical Sciences, focusing on traditional Ayurvedic medicine and integrative healing systems.

She attended the International Conference on Integrative Medicine and completed fellowship-based observational training at Bnai Zion Medical Center, studying integrative hospital-based acupuncture applications in areas including IVF support, neurology, rehabilitation, urology, and stroke recovery.

Grand Cayman
She later joined the development of a multidisciplinary wellness clinic in the Cayman Islands, serving as a women’s health and fertility acupuncture specialist within an integrative clinical setting.
Advanced Clinical Training
Neurological Rehabilitation Fellowship — 2019
In July 2019, Dr. Angell completed advanced hospital-based acupuncture training through NYU Langone Health under the mentorship of Claudia Citkovitz, with emphasis on stroke recovery, neurological rehabilitation, and integrative inpatient care.
Neuropuncture Fellowship — 2022–2023
Dr. Angell completed Neuropuncture Fellowship training in neurofunctional acupuncture and nervous system-based treatment approaches. This specialized field focuses on the application of acupuncture and electroacupuncture for neurological, musculoskeletal, and pain-related conditions using modern neuroanatomical principles.
Acupuncture Injection Therapy (AIT) — 2024
In 2024, Dr. Angell completed advanced training in Acupuncture Injection Therapy (AIT) in Sarasota, Florida.
AIT is an integrative procedure involving the injection of therapeutic substances into acupuncture or trigger points as part of a comprehensive treatment strategy. In clinical practice, AIT may be incorporated alongside acupuncture, electroacupuncture, and manual therapies to support the management of musculoskeletal pain, soft tissue injury, nerve irritation, and chronic pain conditions.
